Poetry Friday/ Writer's Diary #33

Levels of Naiveté:(early draft)

The realization hit him
hard: tossing a green salad
meant she was thinking
about dad.

(His dad had hit a lettuce
      farmer’s truck- head on.
      It was the happiest day
      of her life.)

The realization hit him
hard: tossing a green salad
meant she was thinking
about dad.

Oh, good. I'm glad we were meant to laugh, because I did. And then I sort of gasped and covered my mouth.

I'd like to see later drafts. This ...is ...interesting!

That's a lot of hits. Pretty damned brilliant. And now I'm hungry.
