The Great Wednesday Compare 3- Sidney Sheldon VERSUS Anne Rice

The winner of the last week's Great Wednesday Compare (Sidney Sheldon Vs. Mary Higgins Clark) with a final score of 8-4 was Sidney Sheldon.

Not having read either of these, I probably would have gone with Mary Higgins Clark. I think my sister has read just about everything she's published, and that's about all I could base my vote on. By the way, I loved some of the responses last week; so many of you hardly give two hoots about either author and yet voted anyway. Ah sweet democracy.

Maybe this week's match-up will strike a few more chords.

Remember, vote simply by adding your comment below, base it on whatever merit you choose, voting does not end until Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. (Sept. 2nd, 2008), and if you want your author to get more votes, feel free to promote them here or on your blog!

Who's better?

I'm sticking by Sidney.

I tried reading Interview once. Not my thing. But I'll still vote for her because she seems like the kooky old aunt we'd all want.

Gotta go with Rice on this one. Until she went all kooky, the Vampire series was one of the best going.

I've loved Anne Rice before she turned into a big baby- or as we say here, a big sook. So I'm going with her.

I have never read Sheldon, and only a couple of chapters of Interview with a Vampire, and Anne Rice is all weird now, but you know what, I'm still going to give her my vote.

This is easy! Anne Rice

I'm not sure what people mean about her turning all kooky and all weird, unless they mean she's no longer an atheist and now a Roman Catholic.

I have to go with Anne Rice; I used to love both the Lestat and Mayfair witches series but eventaually lost patience. Still more my thing than Sheldon

I haven't been able to vote lately, John, without my comments showing my "snobbery" about certain authors so I have been abstaining. But since I was, at one time, a huge fan of Anne Rice's vampire books, especially the first two or three, I'll vote for Rice. I did read a Sheldon book back in the seventies that I remember really liking (can't recall the title anymore) but that was the only one and I've pretty much ignored him since then.

I'm going with Anne Rice this week.

Nicola- Rice turned me off after she ranted at a reviewer on Amazon who didn't like Vittoro the Vampire (I think, one of her last terrible books). It was a looong rant that made her look like a fool. Amazon took it down. He was right though- it was bad.

I haven't read Rice, except I did try Interview with a Vampire at one point and never finished it. So I don't want to vote for her.

I don't think Sydney Sheldon deserves to win three weeks in a row, especially when Coupland didn't even win one.(I'm still bitter)

So, I abstain this week, and will wait to see who takes on Rice next week.
